WHO ARE WE?
We are a non-profit organization aiming to reach out to migrant workers through Christianity. Our goals include the following:

  • To fulfill God's calling to share the Gospel with migrant workers in the community

  • To help them understand God's plans for their lives (Jeremiah 29:11)

  • To demonstrate God's love and concern for the poor, needy, and oppressed

  • To obey God's command for us to love our neighbors as ourselves

WHO IS MY NEIGHBOR?
Most of the workers we aim to help are from Central and South America, originating from poor and destitute areas. They find jobs here in order to make a living for themselves, and in many cases, their families in their home country. For the most part, the occupations they find are unstable and insufficient to support themselves. Because many of them are undocumented and receive no legal rights nor protection from the government, they are compelled to search for difficult and insecure jobs.

their eyes to them receive many curses.” ~ Proverbs 28:27 (TNIV)

In Matthew 22, Jesus said that the greatest commandment was to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind” and to “Love your neighbor as yourself”. We cannot have one without the other. It is important that we recognize these migrant workers as our neighbors and realize that it is God’s will for us to help them both spiritually and physically.

In 2009, a group of Christians in the Houston area responded to the needs of this community by partnering to share their faith with groups of migrant workers. After several months of small-scale efforts, these volunteers realized the intense thirst of these workers for God to give meaning to the hardship and difficulties in their lives. On November 16, 2009, a formal nonprofit organization, He Is My Neighbor, was established in order to facilitate the mission of assisting the less fortunate in our community.
